31名の2型糖尿病患者に対し，少量のサイアザイド利尿薬をSGLT2阻害薬のイプラグリフロジンへ変更したところ，3ヶ月後に血圧は不変であり，空腹時血糖，HbA1c，尿酸値は有意に低下，BMIと内臓脂肪面積は有意に減少した．
