若年成人の腎移植患者において、糖尿病を原腎疾患とする患者では非糖尿病の腎移植患者と比較し、死亡率は高値であった。特に移植前の透析期間が長期の患者では若年であっても、こまめな介入が必要と考えられた。

Nrf2活性化薬であるバルドキソロン・メチルの，CKDステージ3-4の日本人糖尿病患者に対する効果を検証した第2相試験である．同剤を16週間投与後，イヌリンクリアランスで測定されたGFRが5.95 mL/min/1.73 m2増加した．現在第3相試験が継続中である．
