１型糖尿病患者は自動車事故をおこすハイリスク群である。
Ⓐ １年間の自動車事故と関連する因子を調査し、ハイリスク群を見つけるための簡単な指標（ RADD ）
を作成した。
Ⓑ 低血糖をより予測・予防・検出・治療を支援するためのツールを作成し（Diabetes Driving.com ）、インターネットによる介入がハイリスク群の自動車事故数を減らせる可能性があると結論づけられた。
ただし、これらはあくまでも指標であり、どの１型糖尿病患者に対しても事故予防の教育は必要である。
