5年間の成績から、２型DMでBMIが27～43の患者では内科治療単独よりも、肥満手術を併用することで、高血糖の改善や内服薬・インスリン使用量を減量させることができる。

Discussion：
NGT から IGT 、T2DM へ進行する中で、β細胞の機能障害の進行やインスリン抵抗性が増大しているだけでなく、Adipo-iR （インスリン抗脂肪分解作用への抵抗性）が増大しており、FFA 濃度が上昇していた。上記はNGT においても肥満であれば、その傾向を認めた。
