type ２ DM へ進行後、年齢調整死亡率２倍程度まで上昇した。IGI 群から DMへの進行を妨げることは死亡率を下げる可能性がある。

Discussion：
食事による体重減少は2型糖尿病の有無に関わらずリポタンパク質（a）は有意に上昇したが、肥満手術を受けた患者では有意に増加しなかった。これは、食事による体重減少が心機能を低下させる可能性がある。
今後はリポタンパク質（a）低下剤を内服し、肥満患者の CVD が改善するか追跡調査が必要である。
